What We Want Lyrics

MUSE

I’ve been stuck inside of my mind
For quite some time just asking “Why?”
It just seems like I’ve heard it all before
I don’t even know how to talk like myself anymore
She came up through the water and said
“Let’s keep this our little secret
If you let me in your mind we’ll make heads roll
And I will let you in this body if you let me in you in your soul”
She was leading the way
She said, “Boy, you better behave.”
And she said, “Baby, what’s there to lose?
You know we’re diggin’ on the same tunes
Come on, let yourself be seduced
You know I could be your muse.”
Sitting back staring at burning beached wood
Sipping on something soaking up the moon
Walking from the water a dark silhouette
She come up to me and wraps her arms around my neck
And she says, “Patience, honey, feel it when it comes
Taste it, close your eyes, stick out your tongue.”
She was leading the way
She said, “Boy, you better behave.”
And she said, “Baby, what’s there to lose?
You know we’re diggin’ all the same tunes
Come on, let yourself be seduced
You know I could be your muse.”
Sittin’ back in awe at the way that she moves
As word jump from her tongue into my brew
Crawling toward me lit up by the moon
Throws her hair back, starts to laugh and hums me a tune
“Drink it down honey taste the sound.
Touch the colors hear ‘em all around”
She was leading the way
She said, “Boy, you better behave.”
And she said, “Baby, what’s there to lose?
You know we’re diggin’ all the same tunes
Come on, let yourself be seduced
You know I could be your muse.”

GETTING’ DOWN

Well get back. Don’t let her lead you on like that and
Gettin’ down its never what it once was
I bet well I’ve been thinking too much lately
Back before you were after each other
But hearts will turn and now you’re just chasing her
Well I’ve been thinking lately
I’ve been thinking about you too much, baby.
Did I not get you off?
Did you not fall in love?
Did we not have fun? Did I not make you come enough?
Aw, baby, you once said
That I was the best
That you ever had and you think of me when you’re with him?
(Did I not get you off?)
Well kick back. Go out and find you something new
I know you know that she was never the only one for you
Gettin’ down will never live up to what we used to do
And I thought I could give you it all
I hope that what you want is what you got
Did I not get you off?
Did you not fall in love?
Did we not have fun? Did I not make you come enough?
Aw, baby, you once said
That I was the best
That you ever had. Do you think of me when you’re with him?
(Did I not get you off?)
Well I’ve heard your dirty talk
(Did you not fall in love?)
I know what makes you hot
(Did we not have fun? Did I not make you come enough?)
You told me your most inner, deepest thoughts
Baby, were you faking?
(Aw, baby, you once said)
I know the sounds that you make
(That I was the best)
As you give and take
(That you ever had and you think of me when you’re with him?)
I felt your body shake, can you feel my heart breaking?

BABY DRINK

She thinks of me when she drinks
She tells me things that I so badly want to believe
And sometime after 2AM, I never hear from her before then
So baby, drink and think of me
Tell me things that you don’t mean
Keep me in mind any time you get lonely
And I’ll stay up late just in case you need to talk for a bit
‘Cause right now from you I’ll take what I can get
So string me along
Keep me hanging on and
Baby, drink and think of me
Do you keep me with you when your party’s going on
Or do you only think of me when all your other options are gone?
‘Cause I don’t mind
It all suits me just fine
So baby, drink and think of me
Tell me things that you don’t mean
Keep me in mind any time you get lonely
And I’ll stay up late just in case you need a place to lay your head
‘Cause right now from you I’ll take what I can get
So string me along
Keep me hanging on and
Baby, drink
When you awake do you regret anything?
Are you afraid that I just may read in too deep?
But don’t you worry about me. I’ll play it cool
I may be naïve, but I’m not a fool
I won’t take it too serious, if that’s what you want
It’s getting late now, and you’re probably drunk
So baby, drink and think of me
Tell me things that you don’t mean
Keep me in mind any time you get lonely
And I’ll stay awake just in case you need to come crawl into bed
‘Cause right now from you I’ll take what I can get
So string me along
Tell me anything at all to keep me hanging on and
Baby, drink

LOOP

I know it’s kinda creepy but you swayed so sweetly
I just wanted more and more
And though we hadn’t met yet
I pictured biting your neck
And making you mine forever
I just want you over and over
I wanna put you on a loop
So tell me that you want me
Tell me that you need me
Tell me that you love me
Baby, I love you too
And it feels all too real. Aw my love for you I’d kill
And my crest is your silhouette
Before it I’ll kneel
Only your sweet cruelty can command me
Never again will we part
The epitome of our art
As we leave the era of being lonely
Here we wait with bated breath
Its only a pound of flesh
And here we stand on ceremony
I want to love you
I want to love you
I want to feed you, take care of you
I want to eat you down to the bone
I want to feel you and carry you
I want to wear your skin around
I want to love you
I want to love you
I want to breathe you
I want to feel you
I want to breed you
I want to steal you
I want to love you
I want to love you

ELEPHANT IN THE ROOM

“Well speak of the devil,” she says as I walk into the room
“How are you baby? We were just talking about you.”
To myself I think, “Oh, I’m sure you were”
Though, it was probably about how she is ready for this to be over
I don’t know if it’s somebody else or just the idea of someone
Maybe she’s just fallen out of love, ready to move on
Either way it feels like she’s already gone
She leaves me here like a fool hanging on
And I’m only saying what everyone is thinking
What everybody else already seems to know
So tell me how long have I been leading myself on
How long have I been chasing your shadow
Every time I walk into a room
All conversation stops like a record player scratching off
And every time I leave my ears begin to burn
I know that they’re all talking about me but I never hear a word
And god it seems lately like everyone knows but me
Nobody says a thing. All I hear is whispering
And I don’t want to be paranoid
And I don’t want to be naïve
And I don’t want to be with her if she don’t want to be with me
And I’m only saying what everyone is thinking
What everybody else already seems to know
So tell me how long have I been leading myself on
How long have I been chasing your shadow
And I know that you still love me and
You just can’t tell me to go and
If I was stronger I would just leave on my own
And I don’t want to be the one to make you miss out on anything
And I don’t want to be with you if you don’t want to be with me
And I’m only saying what everyone is thinking
What everybody else already seems to know
So tell me how long have I been leading myself on
How long have I been chasing your shadow

SO MUCH

Taken back by the way you carry yourself
Your look, your taste
It’s like no one else
Can your eyes love, and if my heart can see
Then forgive me if I stare ‘cause I wear it on my sleeve
Take from this what you will
Do with this what you want
Inside of you I feel, I want to hold your heart
Hand to hand, head to chest
Here with me lay down to rest
Close your eyes and dream we’ll forever be
I can’t see myself with anyone else
You have become my angel, for you I fell
You always seem to see straight through me
Your eyes alone bring me to my knees
You make it hard to breathe whenever we touch
I love the thought of forever and us
So much
Just thinking to myself how I’ve fallen for you it seems
Flirting with the idea, though I’ve been a fool for lesser things
I wish that I could say everything inside of me
But you’ll just have to wait until it brings me to my knees
So I bite my lip and mind my tongue
I cannot say the things that I want
But under my breath I’ll tell you this
I’ve never had a sweeter kiss
I touch my hand to your face
I bring you closer this way
Close your eyes and dream we’ll forever be
I can’t see myself with anyone else
You have become my angel, for you I fell
You always seem to see straight through me
Your eyes alone bring me to my knees
You make it hard to breathe whenever we touch
I love the thought of forever and us
So much

IMAGINE NATIONS (SPEECH)

We, living today, are not the past of this world. We are living today as the present and as the future of
humanity.
We are a generation that wants love, peace and unity in a time when we need these things more than
ever. And we must begin now to change this world.
To change the way that we think and the things we believe. If we could only stop the momentum of the
hate that is pouring out into all the corners of the world, if we could stop all of this separation and
realize this is our world.
A world where we are not defined by the color of our skin, by the sex we were born of or the nation we
were born in.
Where the measure of a man is not based on his obedience to others but instead his willingness to give
himself to others.
We are not the past of this world. We do not need to live by all that has been set in place before us.
Since the beginning of man we have strived for growth and knowledge. Our obsession to want to
understand this life has taken us down many different paths
With many different ideas and beliefs.
But today we have the knowledge to give us the direction and the answers that we need.
And those of us who want peace must stand up against these hate-filled ideologies, the tyranny and
oppression that is taking place all over the world.
We are not our past and we have the power to change the path of our future.
Those of us who have already lived our lives, those of us who know what we want for the future of our
lives, those of us coming up, who are still growing, searching for the meaning of our lives: together,
none of us made the rules of this earth and we do not have to be satisfied with these ways. We must not
be satisfied with these ways!
We must make this plea to the world to give this world’s future a chance. A chance to survive. A chance
to progress.
We cannot remain divided! We must to sever from ourselves and the strings that pull us from the
hands that tie us to these old ideas that create division. We must stand up now, together, with each
other and for each other as one.
Separation is the root of hate and true evil of this world. Not a god or a devil! And this division amongst
men will be the destruction of this world.
We cannot remain divided over such things. No one on this earth should fear punishment for the
pigmentation of their skin, or for the area of the world in which they were born or how they identify
themselves. No one should fear these things, not from any other human, from any government, not
from any God!
We are not our past. We do not need words of hate, rules and punishments written thousands of years
ago by men in such a primitive time and with such primitive views. These persecutions were never just,
and have no place in our way of life and our minds of reason.
We are better than this! We could someday be that influential civilization: an inspiration to the rest of
the universe. We cannot go back to walking around with our knuckles dragging the ground!
We are not our past! We are the present. And we are the future.
We can no longer be a world that takes authority as truth, and faith as fact.
We cannot continue to accept these antiquated ways for the sake of tradition.
We do not need separation!
We do not need race, religion, and greed.
Why can we not be one race? A race of humans!
Why can we not be one religion? A religion of love! Where we are all gods. No one human lesser or
greater than the other. Where we worship each other with love and compassion.

We do not need greed! Why can we not share all that this world has to offer?
Imagine nations as one! A world as one! One race of humans!
One religion of love! We are not our past! We are our present! We are our future!
And Our Future Begins Now!

WHAT WE WANT

I want passion. I want to be a man of action
I want to breathe, I want to feel
I want to know that all of this is real
I want to live
I want to see just what this world’s got to give
I want to go out and conquer it and spin it on my fingertips
I want to die sometimes only to see just what it’s like
I want to know where my mind will go or do I even have a soul
I want answers to questions instead of merely theories and suggestions
I would love to believe that there is more to this than just selective randomness
So you dabble in witchcraft looking for something more than the aftermath
Of the afterlife when this world is over
‘Cause you just can’t seem to make sense of anything anymore
And you should be seriously considering on giving up on any and all religion
It’s responsible for far more war than anything to ever come before
And I would no longer stand on the shoulders of the world
I won’t believe she’s damned
I’ll take the weight up off of her
If we could all pretend to forget the theories and beliefs we’ve conjured
And throw our faith to the hands of the world and each other
I want my virtues to control my ways
Who I am and the things that I say
Only to be overcome when truth has undone my tongue
I want to write, I want to speak and dream
I want the foresight and the wisdom to lead
Ideas that will change the world with a pen and not a sword
We need passion
We need to be a world of action
For every word to leave our mouths not go unheard or hit the ground
We need strength and gravity
We need minds of reason and understanding
To save this world with our lips and spin it on our fingertips
And I would no longer stand on the shoulders of the world
And I won’t believe she’s damned
I’ll take the weight up off of her
If we could all pretend to forget the theories and beliefs that we’ve conjured
Throw our faith to the hands of the world and each other
I want virtues to control my ways
Who I am and the things that I say
Only to be overcome when truth has undone my tongue
I want to write, I want to speak and dream
I want the foresight and the wisdom to lead
Ideas that will change the world with a pen and not a sword

WHERE I’M AT

My head on the bar and for my glass I slowly reach out
I’m looking down and my tux is looking wore out
Talking again to the drink in my hand but it’s not listening
Where I’m at I can’t really tell
I think I’m at a bar in downtown at a hotel (in downtown Alahota)
But I can’t really be sure of anything anymore
Signs of the night I had before
I’m missing buttons on my shirt and there’s lipstick on my collar
I wish I could say that it was cool but I really feel like a fool
And I know I’m putting on hold who I want to be and where I’m going
But for right now this is what I gotta do
And it won’t take long but it won’t be soon
And I swear I’ll be back but for now this is where I’m at
I take a drink and I ask for more
People walk by and they just ignore
The smell of booze and the lack of shoes on my feet
Five o’clock casts a shadow on my face
The color of my eyes suggest I stayed out way too late
The tender at the bar makes a remark as to how much I’ve had to drink
I close one eye and I see how much I got a little
I close the other and I down the rest
And it may be a cover but I’ll take another and tell myself I’m the best
And I know I’m putting on hold who I want to be and where I’m going
But for right now this is what I’ve gotta do
And it won’t take long but it won’t be anytime soon
And I swear I’ll be back but for now this is where I’m at
Before you go on questioning my motives
I know that it’s all wrong in case you think I haven’t noticed
But if my memory serves me correctly
I tried love once before
And I know I’m putting on hold who I want to be and where I’m going
But for right now this is what I gotta do
And it won’t take long but it won’t be anytime too soon
And I swear I’ll be back but for now this is where I’m at

DOWN AT THE BAR

There was a time when I lost my mind
You were all that I could think of
I had to lose what I felt for you
So I got myself a little drunk
But it wasn’t enough I needed me some love
So I stumbled on down the street
And I fell through the door and I heard a big roar
As if everyone was waiting on me
And I knew this was right where I want to be
Down at the bar where we sit and talk
About whatever’s on our minds
And we have a few laughs and we put a few back
And we all have a damn good time
We sing the songs and you sing along
And everybody’s glad that you came
To the best damn place to get away
Where everybody knows your name
Well I ain’t got me a honey and I ain’t got any money
And when I do I just blow it all on beer
And I drink ‘til I’m out and I don’t worry about
Where I’m gonna be in a year
‘Cause I know I’m gonna be right here
Down at the bar where we sit and talk
About whatever’s on our minds
And we have a few laughs and we put a few back
And we all have a damn good time
We sing the songs and you sing along
And everybody’s glad that you came
To the best damn place to get away
Where everybody knows your name
Down at the bar where we sit and talk
About whatever’s on our minds
And we have a few laughs and we put a few back
And we all have a damn good time
We sing the songs and you sing along
And everybody’s glad that you came
To the best damn place to get away
Where everybody knows your name

THE LIVER

As crazy as it sounds
I can’t make her stay
I know you take one look at me and say, “Damn, how could she leave?”
As crazy as it seems
Well she ripped out my heart
Thank god she left my liver
‘Cause if I couldn’t drink I’d just sit around and think
About how much I miss her
Well I’d like to thank god for alcohol
And the 99 bottles of beer on my wall
And for always feeling good
‘Cause I got me a bottle
She says I’ve got a problem
She says I drink too much
Well I guess that I do
The problem is you don’t drink enough
Well it’s not what you think
I only like to drink
I’ve been to AA
Yeah baby, it’s not for me
Well I’d like to thank god for alcohol
And the 99 bottles of beer on my wall
And for always feeling good
‘Cause I got me a bottle
Well I’d like to thank god for alcohol
And the 99 bottles of beer on my wall
And for never feeling down
‘Cause I got a liter of Crown
Well I’d like to thank god for alcohol
And the 99 bottles of beer on my wall
And for always feeling good
‘Cause I got me a bottle
Well I’d like to thank god for alcohol
And the 99 bottles of beer on my wall
And for never feeling down
‘Cause I got a liter of Crown
